Writing A Marketing Article
Writing a marketing article can seem like a difficult thing to do if you aren't accustomed to it but it can become a very natural extension of yourself. It can be quite intimidating but, once you have learned the basics, it can come quite naturally.
The first thing that you need to do in writing a marketing article is to study your subject matter. Become truly interested in it. It helps if it is something that you are passionate about in the first place but if there isn't that passion, you can still educate yourself.
The second thing that you need to do to write a good marketing article is to ask the questions that you would be asking if you were interested in the product or service. Ask the 5W1H questions: Who, What, When, Where, Why, How. Ask the basic ones but also look for questions that people really have.
This might require some research on your behalf to find out the most asked questions if you aren't intimately familiar with the material. Also make sure that they are questions that you can not only answer adequately, accurately and authoritatively, but that makes the reader want to know more about what you are trying to offer them.
You also need to keep in the forefront of your thinking that the goal of the article is to get them to want to go to wherever it is you want them to go or to take the action you want them to take. Most of the time an article is going to have the intention of making them click a link so they can go to another site where you ask them to buy.
Answer most of the questions but ask more questions than you answer in your article and let them know that to find the rest of the answers they are going to have to follow that link. The beginning and end of a marketing article are incredibly important.
The beginning of the article has to make them want to read the rest of the article all the way to the end. It has to lay out what would keep you interested. Ask yourself what is it that I am going to try to say and would this really keep my interest. What would capture my attention? Look at other articles and see what it is that catches your eye and use that for inspiration.
The end of the article has only one purpose, and that is to make them follow your lead. You have to not only give the reason to click on that link or follow your desired course of action for them, but you also have to ask them to do it. A link by itself won't often get clicked.
People want to be asked or told what to do. People need direction and that is why they are reading your article in the first place. Give them the direction that they need to take and tell them or ask them to do what you want them to do.
Once you have begun to write a marketing article, just keep in your mind that you are telling someone about this product or service and that the person you are talking to is truly interested in what you have to say. For them, it is really exciting because you are giving them what they want...information about something that is important to them.
If you can talk to a friend intelligently about something that you have a mutual interest in, then you can write a marketing article naturally.
